Today's stack of maps
I grabbed a stack of maps and went out for a longish run today. The idea was to do a little preparation for next weekend's 10 hour event at Indian Cave.
I was out for 4 hours, mixing jogging and walking. Fun.
Dear Michael, some time ago you referred in one of your posts to your participation to the International Junior Match in Hartberg (Austria) in 1984. the event took afterwards the name of World Orienteering Championships. I took part as well. It was a very hot day and I remember I was completely exausted. Do you have by any chance the result list of that event ? giovanni.liverani@poste.it
I do search and rescue and am horribly out of shape. It occurred to me that a bit of orienteering would be perfect to get into mental and physical shape.
Do you have a blog post for those just getting started? How long do you run and in what terrain? If there is no official course set up, how do you train for events (eg know your are corresponding points on the map to real world?) Is there a way to practice these skills without joining an orienteering group or team? (If only I had more time :D)
