Inventor of basketball photographed in prime sprint orienteering terrain
James Naismith was not just a famous Canadian. He was also the inventor of basketball. He invented the game when he was in Western Massachusetts, before he moved to Lawrence, Kansas. I came across this photo of Naismith and his wife Maude in a NYT story this weekend.
What struck me about the photo was...it was taken from a spot on one of our local sprint orienteering maps!
