Some words from Kent Olsson
Some words from Kent Olsson:
What do you do when you are together with another runner during the race? I caught up to another runner early in the race. He was a little bit better road runner than me and on a leg with road and trail running the pace was a bit too fast.
He wanted to increase the pace. I felt like there was a risk that we'd be going too fast when we got back in the forest, which would increase the chance of making a mistake. I told him to either run behind me or pick hos own route. It is very important for me that I am the one deciding both the speed and the route choice I'm going to take.

When we were hiking in Skaftafel we saw this strange "white rainbow." I've never seen something like that before. I don't really understand what it was, but it was nice to look at.
Wow, this is really fascinaing. I have never heard of such things, but the wikipedia listing for fogbow has some interesting info and links. In particular, check out the link for a "glory." I've often seen these out of the window of planes but never knew what caused them. Here are even some incredibly gory mathematics explaining the optics of glories.
