I haven't had much motivation to train the last year (or more?). But, I've got a new project that I'm thinking might help. I'm planning to run/walk/bike every street in Lawrence.
I was inspired by Matt Green who is on a project to walk all of New York City.
My project is much more modest. Lawrence has only about 300 miles of streets. It is also a lot easier to bike than to walk.
I'm tracking my progress on a map that I've got at work. So far, most of my project has involved biking slightly different routes to work each day.
I know a few other people who have done similar projects. Joe B is apparently running every street in Bethel, CT. Eric B. biked every road in Thompkins County, NY. I'm sure there are plenty of other people who have played similar training games.

are you logging it with a GPS? You could contribute to/update OSM (or FOSM) :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been. I should probably take a look at the OSM for Lawrence before I go out and decide if it needs some updating. If the area I'm headed looks out of date or incomplete, I could log it with GPS. For the most part, OSM has accurate coverage of the street system in Lawrence. It needs work on things like buildings.
